We’re in south France. Rouge Corsair is galloping along and we can’t quite believe we are down near the Med already.
It smells different here. The salt air is refreshing, the Medittranean breeze is cooling. The dry grass is a contrast to the lush paddocks that we saw in the middle of France, but the harshness of the land reminds us of Australia – where things sting and stick-in you!
We’ve made good time, enjoying the scenery pass us by is a heavenly way of viewing France. The friendly waves, the great (free) tie up places and the fun boat people from all over the world keep us smiling all day.
We love not having a car to worry about and pay for. Freedom is a moving boat and two bicycles.
The midi is approaching and that’ll be breaking new ground for us.

Oh sigh, Jackie! I am so very envious. I keep saying that one of these days that will be me, but I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever make it by boat to the south. Maybe I’ll hitch a ride with you sometime!

Great progress Jackie. What was the outcome of your concerns with air draft?

Hi Ian, well what a timely question! We are at Capestang (blog is a bit behind us) – and we decided to have a day off yesterday. Sitting here quietly confident that all would be well, during the night it starts to rain and rain and rain and rain and now the already high water levels from the last flood are EVEN HIGHER – so here we shall sit and wait until it drops – sigh!

Ah patience, hopefully there is not a plane waiting too soon! Good luck.
So, I’d be keen to get your key dimensions when you have time. (1) Width of wheelhouse, and (2) height above water of the edge of the wheelhouse. In our case, this is 2.75 m wide, and 2.95 m air draft at the edge. With that info, I’d be able to interpret your challenges with respect to our dimensions. At a pinch, we have a flange that could be removed to take off another 12 cm if required. Shan’t be in the Midi for a few years, so this is not a pressing problem
